Most of the time, we don’t think about toilets until something goes wrong. If we don’t have a plunger and our toilet breaks or gets clogged, it can be more than just an inconvenience. Keep in mind that a badly clogged toilet could stop everything in your home.

Plunger

Even though this tool looks simple, it is still the best way to clear a clogged toilet. We recommend that every home have this tool, and if possible, one with a flange, which works best to clear clogged toilets.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

If you don’t have a plunger and your toilet won’t flush, you can use vinegar and baking soda, which are safe and easy to find. You probably already know that vinegar and baking soda can be used to clean many different surfaces, get rid of smells, and keep drains running smoothly.

But if you don’t have a plunger, you can also use these household cleaners to unclog a toilet. We suggest that you pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet that is clogged and wait a few minutes. The next step is to slowly pour two cups of vinegar into the toilet.

Dish Soap and Hot Water

While the water is heating up, put a gallon of hot water on the stove and some dish soap in the toilet. Carefully pour the water into the toilet when it is very hot but not boiling. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes while the hot water and dish soap soften the clog.

Household Bleach

Like soap, bleach helps break down waste in the same way. The method is similar to the one that uses dish soap. Just put 2-3 cups of bleach in place of the solid or liquid dishwashing soap. After a minute or two, pour in one cup of soap powder. Wait ten to fifteen minutes, then flush your toilet. You’ll find that this method works better for a toilet that is very clogged.
